Focus on the family’s Breakaway and Brio magazines published these four short stories between July 2000 and August 2003. “If One Falls” was an award winning story for Breakaway in the 2000 Evangelical Publishers Association’s Higher Goals category. “A Light in the Darkness” (2003) and “Ghost Pirates” (2003) also brought to life young heroes who made a difference in their worlds. “A Home Long Forsaken” (2003) appeared in Brio, taking the reader back to the turn of the century Orphan Train rescue of endangered children from the streets of New York.
